The world’s oldest two wheeler manufacturer Royal Enfield has introduced its new bike christened as Royal Enfield Thunderbird in Indian market. The Royal Enfield Thunderbird price ranges between Rs.1,24,600 – Rs.1,59,000 and it is available in two variants. The Thunderbird has lot of positive features which includes simple handling, stability control, trendy design, twinspark technology as well as a new engine.

Royal Enfield Thunderbird Dimensions

The Thunderbird has been desgined with an excellent external dimension. The dimensions in terms of its length, width and height are same for both the variants and the kerb weight of the bike varies.

The total kerb weight of the Thunderbird 350 is 192 kgs while the weight of the Thunderbird 500 is 195 kgs. In addition, the bike offers the minimum ground clearance of about 140 mm.

Royal Enfield vehicles are well known for their great blending of macho appearance with style. The Thunderbird 350 is powered by a single cylinder, 4 stroke, twinspark and air cooled engine providing the displacement of 346 cc and it produces the maximum power output of 19.8 BHP @ 5250 RPM along with maximum torque of 28 NM @ 4000 RPM. Likewise, the Thunderbird 500 is blessed with a single cylinder, 4 stroke, twinspark engine offering the displacement of about 499 cc. It churns out the maximum power output of 27.2 BHP @ 5250 RPM in combination with the maximum torque output of 41.3 NM @ 4000 RPM. Both the variants are fitted with dual options such as electric and kick start. The Thunderbird 350 is incorporated with the transistorized coil ignition while the 500 cc variant has a digital electronic ignition system.

Royal Enfield Thunderbird Fuel Economy

The Royal Enfield Thunderbird is expected to offer good acceleration and pick up. The engine of the bike comes with a five speed constant mesh as well as wet multiplate clutch ensures smooth gear shifting and ride.The Thunderbird 350 generates a mileage of 40 kmpl in city traffic roads and 45 kmpl on highways along with the maximum speed mark at 130 kmph. On the other hand, the Thunderbird 500 delivers the mileage of 25 kmpl in urban roads and 32 kmpl on highways. The vehicle is known to be one of the fuel efficient bike with the fuel tank capacity of around 20 ltrs on both variants.

The Royal Enfield Thunderbird is well equipped with a decent and dynamic braking and suspension system. The brakes and suspensions are similar for both the variants in which the front brake is of 280mm disc type and two piston caliper while the rear brake is of 240mm disc type single piston caliper. On the other hand, the vehicle has a telescopic, 41mm forks, 130 mm travel r front suspension and twin gas charged shock absorbers with five step adjustable preload, 80mm travel rear suspension. The bike is easy to handle with the features provided in the Thunderbird.
