17,March 2011 - Mahindra & Mahindra,one of the leading auto maker in India has launched a special limited edition of its multi utility vehicle Xylo at a price tag of Rs 9.06 lakh in the ex-showroom, Delhi.It comes with an array of additional features involving anti-lock breaking system.This launch by the company is mainly to mark its second anniversary. 10,July 2010 - Mahindra and Mahindra planned to introduce a micro-hybrid model of its SUV model Xylo in the Indian market.It was the third Mahindra vehicle to get the fuel efficient technology.The micro hybrid technology provided in the Xylo enables the engine to stop when the car is idle and makes the engine to start automatically when the driver pushes the gas pedal.This saves fuel in heavily congested urban traffic. 13,January 2009 - Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd., the market leader in utility vehicles launched the Mahindra XYLO at its Nashik plant.It is featured with a powerful 2.49 litre mEagle CRDe engine which delivers a power of 112 bhp and is well known for its good performance and fuel efficiency.Tthe base model of XYLO is priced at Rs 624,500.

Mahindra Xylo is a grand Multi Utility Vehicle which possess a dynamic and an ultra sporty look.It features many advanced characteristics that makes everyone to stay comfortable in it.Its variants are priced between 7.16 lacs and 9.30 lacs.The variants of Xylo are D2 BSIII,E4,E6,E8,E8-ABS,E8-ABS-AIR BAG.

Design and Engineering

Exteriors

Mahindra Xylo is well known for its stylish exterior look.Its exterior features body colored door handles,outdoor rear view mirrors,striking front grille,radiator grille,headlights,exhaust pipes and so on.The alloy wheel present in the Mahindra Xylo offers a robust and aggressive look to the car.The chrome slots add finishing touch to the vehicle and the side body cladding present in it adds to the attractive quotient to xylo.

Interiors

Mahindra Xylo is indulged with mind-blowing interiors which offers eminence and luxurious feeling while travelling in it.Its interior features flatbed front seats,dual AC,adjustable Steering wheel,etc., Some other exciting comfort features in it are foldable flight trays for easier snacks intake inside the car, mobile charging points, courtesy lamps, express power windows, integrated footstep, roof console for spectacle, etc.Its some stylish features are door pads with leather interiors, chromed inner door handles, sporty cockpit, Leather wrapped Gear, drive selection and parking brake levers, wood print panels, multimeter, dual tone leather upholstery.

Engine Capacity and Performance

Mahindra Xylo is available only in diesel version and it features two types of diesel engines viz mEagle CRDe engine and mDI CRDe engine.The powerful 2.49 litre mEagle CRDe engine has a very good fuel efficiency and it delivers a power of 112 bhp at 3800rpm. It produces 260Nm of maximum torque at 1800 - 2200 rpm. Likewise,the mDI CRDe engine delivers a maximum power of 95 bhp at 3600rpm and produces a maximum torque of 220Nm at 1400- 2600 rpm.The engine of Xylo is also equipped with a common rail direct injection fuel supply system offering free flow of oil and smooth riding.Due to the presence of its highly powerful engine,Xylo is well known as a good performance car.

Mileage and Fuel Economy

The high powerful engine of Mahindra Xylo is well known for its very good fuel efficiency and the 5 Speed Manual Transmission present in it yields smooth and swift shifting of gears and endeavours an attractive xylo mileage of 13 kmpl.

Handling and Safety

Xylo is equipped with both active and passive safety features for safeguard purposes.Like Scorpio,the Anti lock Braking System present in it guarantees prevention of wheel lock in case of abrupt braking.It is featured with front fog lights that offers comfortable driving in any mode of weather conditions.

Stereo and Accessories

Mahindra Xylo is fitted with a MP3 turner CD player and speaker offering a very good sound system. It is also incorporated with a number of accessories like speaker, Leather upholstery, USB Connector and so on.

Mahindra Xylo D2 BSIII

This is the base model of Xylo which possess mDI CRDe engine. It norms BS III compliant and comes with extra features like roof console for spectacle holder, digital clock, sun visor, theatre effect lamps, Tilt Steering, Power steering, Power window, central locking, engine immobiliser etc.

Mahindra Xylo E4

This is the upgraded version with m Eagle CRDe engine and contains additional features like fabric seat material, flat bed seat, mobile charging points, rear wash and wiper, etc.

Mahindra Xylo E6

This is again an upgraded version with an mEagle CRDe engine and extra features like digital drive assists system, arm rest, foldable arm rest in middle seat with utility space, key less entry, rear defogger, fog lamps etc. are provided to it.

Mahindra Xylo E8

This upgraded version comes with an mEagle CRDe engine and it features two DIN audio system, full console, foldable flight tray, position lumbar support front seat, etc.

Mahindra Xylo E8-ABS

This is the same model as Mahindra Xylo E8 with an additional feature of ABS in it.

Mahindra Xylo E8-ABS-AIR BAG

This is the same model as Mahindra Xylo E8-ABS with an additional feature of Air Bags attached to it.

Mahindra Xylo Owner Review

Except for the debatable looks, the Xylo is a genuine MUV with improved functionality and comfort. Case in point is the multi information display and flat bed seats. Also be surprised to find an under seat plug point in the middle row and separate air con vents in the third row. The seats are huge and offer good support. The pricing of the Xylo is the icing on the cake, and has made it a competition in one too many segments.

The test drive of the Xylo was a pleasant experience. The car looks neat from the outside and the headlights are stylish. The hatch door at the back is a great idea. Inside the Digital Drive Assist is placed prominently and tells you all the information like gear, distance, temperature, fuel etc. The engine is responsive and refined. The pickup is good and so is the suspension. It is a potential winner.
