Honda Navi First Ride Review

Honda Navi seems to be an odd product from the company which likes to play the vehicle safe especially in Indian market. Actually, it is a mixing of both scooter and motorcycle that comes with an all new 110cc engine borrowed from the Activa down to the variomatic transmission. The vehicle offers a motorcycle like appearance with its elegant tank as well as its seat configuration giving a gap hole underneath in which it has enough space to keep some important things. Let’s talk about its design, engine and performance, ride quality, braking and handling of the new Honda Navi.

Design

Talking about its style and design, the new Honda Navi offers a cheeky, playful, cheesy appearance to the viewers. Its dimensions are very similar to the Honda Activa but its length varies a little bit and wheelbase of the vehicle has hidden the scooter features and projects to be a bike. Honda Navi has the same Activa seat height but a little bit larger in every other dimension. It is provided with a cute front USD forks and practical rubber gaiters along with moped like handlebar. Further, Navi is well wrapped by an ocean of plastic which sets the cheeky tone for the scooter. Moving to its fuel tank, it ends in a circular element which suggests a hinge and it looks very odd but it is central to the design. Next to that, seating is really comfortable with a little bodywork ending in a simple tail light along with small saree guard of sorts. Apart from that, color matched crash guards and lot of accessories are offered with various options. It is really worth for such a cost with attractive accessories for the Navi.

Engine and Performance

Honda Navi is well powered by a 110cc engine borrowed from the Activa but it has lost 7kg over the vehicle which is quite good and makes to feel very light. While riding inside the amusement park lanes, the Navi delivers the maximum speed of around 60kmph but the way it gets there would make very happy.

Ride Quality and Handling

Honda Navi is very similar to Activa in many aspects but the feel of riding is completely different from it. It makes us to feel very light and agile with its weight loss of 7kg. One of the most interesting matters to be noted is that the Navi would lift its front wheel off the ground happily with a little effort. At first, I was very confused but later I felt practically it happened and understood that Honda Navi is really a funny vehicle that is very easy to handle in any kind of roads with its Activa frame. The underbone structure has the fuel tank with a bracket used for mounting the tank and its plastic covers. Ride is firm and well damped, but at fast going, Honda Navi does not offer a smooth ride despite the front USD forks. Braking of the Navi seems to be strong with its drum brakes but Honda has missed to keep the rear brake lock which is always a good thing for the vehicle.

Verdict

So, the all new Navi is completely an unique and funny product in Indian market from Honda Motorcycles and scooters at an affordable cost of Rs.47,836 (Mumbai On-Road Price).

Design and Style

Honda Navi comes in a fresh design that we have never seen before for a 110cc which is quite outstanding. At the first sight, the Navi makes everybody to feel like a moped but watching closer shows that it is a bike and we can say that it is a scooter sized motorcycle with the same seat height and driving dynamics. The bike looks like a bit dirt bike at the top and it has enough storage space at the front lower side which is really useful. It is offered with a decent graphics starting from the fuel tank at the front extending up to the rear along with comfortable seating arrangement. The seats are really good and it would be really suited even for long hours of travelling and has grab rail at the back for extra support for the pillion rider. How the front is decorated with a powerful headlamp the rear is also provided with a neat tail lamp. The front tire of the Honda Navi seems to be bigger compared to its rear tire for better road performance. It gets 130mm drum brakes at both ends with the front tyre size of 90/90-12 and rear tyre size of 90/100-10 espectively

Honda Navi Engine Details

Honda Navi designed completely different features a 109.19cc, four stroke, SI engine with Honda’s Eco Technology producing the maximum power output of 7.83BHP at 7000RPM and maximum torque of 8.96Nm at 5500RPM paired to a V-Matic Automatic transmission. This new vehicle could be able to generate the maximum speed of about 81kmph. Mostly, the two wheelers having 110cc engine are moving well today and so Honda Navi is expected to reach the young bike enthusiasts quickly.

Ride and Handling

This new hybrid motorcycle comes with a proficient braking and suspension systems enhancing the safety. Its braking is carried out by the drum brakes at both the front and rear. On the other hand, the suspension duties are performed by telescopic forks in front as well as single shock absorber at the rear. It is to be noted that the new Honda bike uses a stressed member of the frame engine format along with the single shock absorber. With these options, Honda Navi gives an easy handling even in poor road conditions.

Verdict

Honda Navi with its design so different at an affordable cost makes the youngsters to choose for their daily ride.
