Ford India has entered into the production of compact sedan segment which is quite excellent and it has recently launched its new sedan known as Figo Aspire at a starting price range of Rs.4.89 lacs. The new Figo Aspire will be a tough competitor vehicle to its similar other vehicles such as Maruti Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze etc. It is provided with two petrol and one diesel engine options ensuring excellent engine performance. Some of the highlighting features includes six airbags, SYNC infotainment system, MyFord Dock, Ford MyKey etc.

Design and Style
Exterior Measurements
Even though Ford Figo Aspire is a compact sedan, it has been designed with a length of 3995mm, width of 1695mm and height of 1525mm. It provides the larger wheelbase of 2491mm and ground clearance of 174mm.
Exteriors
Ford Figo Aspire is one of the good looking car compared to its similar other cars. At the front, the car has been designed with an aerodynamic view with slanting bonnet along with character lines over it. For its additional front look, the car comes with a signature radiator grille which has horizontally positioned slats on it. The low end and mid range trims are offered with silver accents where as the top end trims are offered with chrome garnish. Ford Figo Aspire has a wide windscreen for better vision to the driver. Apart from that, the front is decorated with a sleek headlight cluster with powerful halogen lamps with turn blinkers which has swept back design and blends into the vehicle’s aerodynamic stance. The front bumper of the Ford Figo Aspire is painted in body color housed with an air intake section and fog lamps. Moving to the side profile, it gives a decent appearance with its stylish dual tone outside mirrors. The fenders of the vehicle are molded properly and the car is offered with a body colored door handles while the B pillars are affixed with black sash tape. The rear end of the vehicle features a boot lid decorated with a wide chrome plated strip with Ford badge. Both rear ends are housed with a arrow design taillight cluster with brake lamps and turn indicators which enhances more safety. In addition to all, the rear end boasts a dual tone bumper fitted with a black colored lower cladding which is really good.
Interiors
The company has launched this vehicle with a spacious internal cabin with dual tone color scheme. Its glossy black and metallic accents are really enriching the internal beauty of the car. At the center of the dashboard, it has a company’s signature design along with MyFord dock including air conditioning system and entertainment equipments. It is offered with a decent instrument cluster comprising three analogue gauges and several warning lamps. One of the important features is its three spoke steering wheel with high gloss black accents mounted with audio control switches for easy accessing music system. The internal space is not the problem in this compact sedan because it has enough shoulder, head room and leg room.
Seating is really comfortable for five people with leather cover in top end variant and fabric upholstery in base and mid trims. There is a rear center armrest along with adjustable head restraints for passenger’s convenience which gives a pleasurable driving experience. The comfort level may vary from each trims in which the base Ambiente variant comes with features like manual air conditioning system, power assisted steering with tilt adjustment, guide-me home headlamps, advanced instrument panel, front power windows with one touch up/down on driver’s side, battery saver, interior grab handles with coat hooks and electric boot release. Next to that, Trend variant has some important features such as steering mounted audio along with phone controlling options, turn indicators on ORVMs, MyFord dock, electrically adjustable outside mirrors, boot lamp, tachometer etc. In addition to that, the Titanium and Titanium Plus are provided with an automatic air conditioning system for cabin temperature maintenance, seat height adjustment for driver and power foldable outside mirrors.
Engine Specification
Ford Figo Aspire is available in two petrol engines and one diesel engine which ensure better engine performance. 1.2litre TI-VCT is one of the petrol engines which produce the displacement very close to 1196cc. This engine has four cylinders and it is based on DOHC valve configuration with a sequential fuel injection system delivering the maximum power output of 86.7bhp at 6300rpm and maximum torque of 112Nm at 4000rpm mated with a five speed manual transmission gearbox. Another petrol engine with a displacement capacity of 1499cc produces the maximum power of 110.5bhp at 6300rpm and maximum torque of 136Nm at 4250rpm coupled with an automatic transmission gearbox. On the other hand, the diesel variants are provided with a 1.5 litre TDCI engine based on SOHC valve configuration delivering the maximum power of 98.63bhp at 3750rpm and maximum torque of 215Nm at 1750-3000rpm mated to the five speed manual gearbox.
Mileage
Both petrol and diesel engines are well known for their fuel efficiency. One of the petrol engine 1.2 litre TiVCT could be able to deliver mileage of around 18.16kmpl and the 1.5litre Ti-VCT engine offers an approximate mileage of 17kmpl. In addition, the diesel engine gives the mileage of 25.83kmpl which is quite outstanding.
Acceleration and Pick Up
The petrol engine with 1196cc Ti-VCT can reach the maximum speed in the range of 145-155 kmph and it can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 15 seconds. The 1.5 litre petrol mill accelerates from 0-100 in just 12 seconds with the top speed of 160 kmph. Similarly, the diesel variant can touch the 100 kmph in just 11.5 seconds with the maximum speed of 165 kmph.
Braking and Handling Features
Braking and Handling is not a problem in this compact sedan in which the front wheels are fitted with a ventilated discs and drum brakes at the rear. The Titanium trims are well equipped with anti-lock braking system and electronic brake force distribution technology ensuring better road performance even in bad weather conditions. Talking about the suspension system, the front axle has an independent McPherson strut type with coil springs and anti roll bar where as the rear axle comes with a semi-independent twist beam type with twin gas and oil filled shock absorbers. This sedan is easy to handle with an electric power assisted steering and pull drift compensation technology. The high end variants like Titanium and Titanium Plus are incorporated with a set of alloy wheels of size 14 inch. The base and mid trims are offered with steel rims and the wheels of all variants are wrapped with 175/65 R14 sized tubeless radial tyres for better road gripping.

Ford Figo Aspire is good at fuel efficiency, external appearance and its spacious cabin. As well as MyFord dock and Sync with voice commands makes it very special. But the vehicle has small boot storage capacity and the fuel efficiency of petrol is very poor. So, it needs some improvement over its interior design.

Overall, Ford Figo Aspire is one of the best compact sedan in its segment in terms of its driving dynamics, exterior appearance, interior space.
I am eagerly waiting for the arrival of Ford Figo Aspire car and recently it has been launched several weeks ago. One of my friend is waiting to purchase the vehicle and we went to test drive the car for few days ago. The vehicle comes with both 1.5l tdci diesel engine and 1.2l tivct petrol engine option. It has lot of first class technological features which enables the driver to store, mount and charge mobile phones, mp3 players and satellite navigation system. Talking about the interiors, it comes with dual tone color combinations with metallic accents. It has enough space making the passengers to be very comfy. The vehicle is blessed with dual air bags one for the driver and other for front co-passengers. Like wise, lot of excellent features are available in the vehicle. According to me, Ford Figo Aspire car is a value for money.
Friends, I felt that the new arrival Ford Figo Aspire is a very potent four wheeler and it is the best looking car in its segment. The diesel engine provides more power and it comes with high class interior features which is quite good. It is an appreciable thing that the Aspire gets fitted with two airbags as standard across all the variants. Compared to other vehicles, Ford Figo Aspire is best and it is a value for money.
Ford Figo Aspire finally enters into the market which looks really best in its segment. It is quite comfortable for all age people with good throttle response. Fuel effficiency is really appreciable with the mileage of around 21kmpl. One of the best feature is that the presence of air bags even in base model. The only drawback is that the vehicle needs some improvements over the safety features such as ABS and EBD absent in starting variants. There is no rear parking sensors or camera in any of the variant. Along with that the clutch paddle could be more light. Overall, Ford Figo Aspire is nice in terms of its front look, pick up. Best suited for highways compared to city ride.
