Ford India has recently introduced the much awaited compact SUV known as Ecosport priced at Rs.6,69 lakh. The new car is not a normal car but it is totally different from others and it is available in three different engine options such as diesel, petrol and ecoboost petrol. The Ford Ecosport is well integrated with comfortable, luxurious and advanced safety features.

Ford Ecosport Engine Details

The Ecosport comes with an excellent engine options in which Ecoboost is surely having an edge in performance than the other two. The petrol version is powered by a 1.5L Ti VCT, 4 cylinder engine which churns out the maximum power of 110 BHP @ 6300 RPM and maximum torque of 140 NM @ 4400 RPM. Likewise the Ecoboost petrol variant comes with 1.0L, 3 cylinder engine which gives the peak power of 123 BHP @ 6000 RPM and torque of 170 NM @ 1400-4500 RPM. Finally the diesel version of the Ecosport is housed with a 1.5L, 4 cylinder based DV5 mill which produces the maximum power of about 89 BHP @ 3750 RPM and torque of 204 NM @ 2000-2750 RPM. The petrol engine gives the displacement of 1499cc where as the ecoboost petrol engine offers 999cc displacement. The diesel variant of the engine produces the displacement of 1498cc and it is available with five speed manual transmission gearbox. The petrol variants comes with a five speed manual transmission gearbox similar to diesel variant but the ecoboost petrol engine comes with the option of five speed manual as well as six speed automatic transmission gearbox.

Acceleration, Mileage and Fuel Efficiency

Ford Ecosport is well known for its fuel efficiency and excellent performance. The petrol engines are expected to deliver a healthy mileage ranges between 13.07- 16.15 kmpl while the ecoboost petrol engine delivers 15.30 – 18.90 kmpl mileage. Similarly, the diesel engine generates a mileage of about 19.30 – 22.70 kmpl which is quite outstanding on the Indian road conditions. Since the petrol engine of the car comes with both manual and automatic transmission gear box helps in better acceleration and pick up. The diesel engine of the car can attain the maximum speed of 175 kmph and it can cross 0-100 kmph in just 13.20 seconds. At the same time, the petrol engine can touch 0-100 kmph in just 13.25 seconds with attaining maximum speed of 165 kmph and the ecoboost petrol engine generates an unbelieveable top speed of about 190 kmph and it can cross 0-100 kmph within 11 seconds.

The Ford Ecosport comes with awesome interiors which is similar to the Fiesta along with a cockpit like design. It has been well designed with refreshing and plush interiors. One of the main feature is the seating arrangement which is very comfortable and luxurious with plush seats wrapped with high quality upholstery. The dashboard of the car is very decent with silver and black combination of good quality. It holds an instrument cluster and many other devices with notification lamps which displays vital information about the car to the driver. It has an adjustable driver seat in which the driver can feel good and comfy while driving. Since it is very spacious, it has lot of storage spaces with the facility of bottle and cup holders, large glove box for storing handy things etc. The leather covered multifunctional power steering is also present along with the mounted controls for the audio system and Bluetooth paired mobiles. It features a powerful air conditioning unit with heater which cools the entire cabin in a very short time. The multifunctional information system comprises power windows, a tachometer, seat belts etc. The front and rear arm rest is also equipped and the car boasts an adjustable external wing mirrors. It also includes an internal anti glare rear view mirror and foldable rear seats which helps in increasing the boot space. The tilt power steering is very responsive and a remote fuel lid opener is also available. The Anti-drip wiper for the front windscreen works in combination with the intermittent wipers. In order to enrich the entertainment, the car possess a powerful music system with a CD Player, USB Port and Aux-in, FM radio, speakers and Bluetooth connectivity. For more convenience to the driver, the car holds central console and instrument cluster with lot of warning and notification lamps. The Ecosport is known to be a premium compact sports utility vehicle with five seating arrangement. The seats comes with lumbar support which gives a comfortable and pleasurable driving.

Exteriors of Ecosport

The exteriors of the Ford Ecosport is really excellent and stylish with number of striking features. The company has given up their best to get such an exterior look. The front fascia of the car comes with a large radiator grille with a thick chrome strip and the company logo fixed on the center. The radiator grille comes with a wide headlight cluster which possess high intensity halogen lights along with side turn blinkers. The front bumper is of body colored with a broad air dam for fast cooling of the engine. A pair of bright, round shaped fog lamps adds more visibility to the driver. The front windscreen is designed with laminated glass with a pair of intermittent wipers. While talking about the side profile, it is very smooth lustrous with body coloured pull type door handles and exterior rear view mirrors. The rear end of the car has a large windscreen along with rear wash and wipe facility and defooger helpful in bad weather conditions. The tail lamps are also very bright with radiant lights and rear spoiler of the car looks more sportive. The rear bumper comes with a pair of reflectors and dual exhaust pipes adding more safety. The roof of the Ecosport is well equipped with a couple of stylish roof rails, small antenna etc. In addition, the body colored side skirts with scuff plates adds more elegance to the car. The external measurements includes 3999mm length, 1765mm width and overall height of about 1708mm. The car offers a ground clearance of about 200 mm and it comes with neatly carved out wheel arches. The Ford Ecosport is available with a light weight steel/alloy wheels of 15/16 inches based on the variants. The tire is of tubeless radial type which offers high grip on the roads and gives comfortable and safety driving. In addition, it is fitted with a full size spare wheel on the tail gate which is a standard feature.

Braking, Handling and Safety Features

Ford cars are always good at braking and handling and there is no doubt Ecosport is also the same. It comes with flexible chassis helps in better driving even on bad roads and bends. The front and rear end of the car has disc braking system which is easy to stop the vehicle at any case. The hydraulic shocks suspension and hydraulic damping is well and good in Ecosport. In order to enhance the safety, it is available with six airbags, dual front airbags for protection of the front passengers and side curtain airbags. It also has central locking facility, seat belts for all passengers with ESP, rear parking sensors, a hill start assist etc. Along with that, the Ecosport comes with an advanced safety features such as Anti-Lock Braking System with EBD, SYNC helps in alerting the emergency services automatically in case of any dangerous situation.

Eco-sport possess great looks and good features.Ground clearance is also good.But the average mileage comes about 12kmpl only.Also the maintenance costs about RS3000/month

Eye-catchy looks,the engie is good for smooth driving,yet noise is felt inside the cabin.Regarding the space,there is enough space at the front while at the rear,it seems be cumbersome for accomodating three adults

Exterior looks are good but as days goes on it gets faded.Fuel economy comes about 10kmpl however the handling is good.In terms of comfort,the driver seat is ok but the same comfort casnnot be felt with the rear passengers
