March 31, 2011 - Bajaj Auto has announced the launch of all new Pulsar 135 Light Sport which adds a new extent to the bike fashion. The new bike is embedded with more chiselled lines, aggressive stance, a sporty split seat, aluminium clip-on handlebars etc. This bike has been launched exclusively for the youth. June 18, 2009 - Bajaj has launched its upgraded version of Pulsar 220 DTSi model in India with a price of Rs. 70,000 ex-showroom Delhi. The new Pulsar is in war bikes such as Apache 180 RTR and Yamaha FZ16 in the premium segment

Bajaj Pulsar review:

The new Bajaj Pulsar is a great hit in Indian market which comes with four variants namely Pulsar 135 DTS-i, 150 DTS-i, 180 DTS-i and 220 DTS-i. The Bajaj Pulsar is a smart bike which possess a sharp shaped tail that adds beauty to the bike. The Pulsar appears into the market with various color options and it gives a pretty and glamarous look.

Engine:

The three variants of Bajaj Pulsar(150, 180, 220) are well equipped with 4-stroke, air-cooled, DTS-i engine with the displacement of 149.01cc, 178.6 cc, 220 cc respectively. But Pulsar 135 is powered by a 4-valve, single cylinder, SOHC, DTS-i engine with 134.66 cc displacement which generates a maximum power of 13.5 @ 9000 rpm and torque of 11.4 @ 7500 rpm. The Pulsar 150 cc delivers a power of 15.06 Ps @ 9000 rpm and torque of 12.5 Nm @ 6500 rpm. The peak power of Pulsar 180cc is 17.02 @ 8500 and torque is 14.22 @ 6500 rpm while the Bajaj Pulsar 220 dtsi pumps out a high power of 21.04 @ 8500 rpm and torque of 19.12 @ 7000 rpm.

Design and Quality:

Bajaj Pulsar is designed with the aim of adding a new dimension to the motorcycle market by introducing a new Light Sports Segment. Bajaj Pulsar is well known for its excellent performance and handling. The shrouds in Pulsar contributes a feel of big bike and the headlight appears with city lights named tale lights which adds a peppy look to the bike. The new Bajaj Pulsar has a features stronger alloy wheels which is helpful for low maintenance since it wouldn’t rust and it enriches the stability of the bike. Dimensions of Bajaj Pulsar:

The Bajaj Pulsar dimensions are - its length is 2035mm, width is 750mm and height is 1165mm. The Pulsar 135cc wheelbase is 1325 mm while the 150cc wheelbase is 1320 mm. At the same time, the wheelbase of Pulsar 180cc and 220cc are 1345 mm and 1350 mm respectively. The ground clearance of Pulsar is 165 mm. The Kerb weight of 135 and 150 variants of Bajaj Pulsar are 122kg and 143kg while the Kerb weight of 180 and 220 are 147kg and 150 kg.

Average Mileage and Fuel Economy:

As Bajaj Pulsar appears in four variants, the mileage also differs from each variant. The Bajaj Pulsar 150cc offers the mileage of 56.5kmpl in urban roads while on highway it offers 65kmpl mileage. The variant 180cc provides mileage of 45.8kmpl mileage in city and 55.2kmpl on highways. The Bajaj Pulsar 180 cc pumps out a mileage of 45.8kmpl mileage in city while on highway it gives 55.2kmpl. The Fuel tank capacity of the Bajaj Pulsar 150cc, 180cc and 220cc is 15 litres and reserve is 3.2 litres but the Bajaj Pulsar 135 has fuel tank capacity of 8 litres with reserve of 2.5 litres. The Bajaj’s own patented DTS-i technology which supports faster and better combustion of fuel which results excellent fuel economy.

Bajaj Pulsar colours:

The 150, 180 and 220 version of the Pulsar comes with plasma blue, cocktail wine red, midnight black and misty grey silver. The variant 135 enters in two shades similar to other variants namely wine red and midnight black. The stylish black colour and sporty look fascinates the bike enthusiasts.

The Bajaj Pulsar 135 sports world’s first 4 valve DTS-i technology and beefed up frame with 1320 mm wheelbase which gives more strength and high stability along with exceptionally tight turning radius.

Bajaj Pulsar 150:

The 150 variant of Pulsar consists of a 12 V Full DC system and 35/35 W with 2 pilot lamps. The front tyre of this variant is measured as 2.75 x 17 and the rear tyre is 100/90 x 17. It generates class-leading top-end power, due to its 2-inlet and 2-outlet valves and ample pulling power in the low and mid-range.

Bajaj Pulsar 180:

The elegant look pulsar 180 is designed with aerodynamic shape and it possess LCD speedo and tachometer console. This bike is a mixing of Pulsar 220 and Pulsar 200 but 200cc is a discontinued bike. The Nitrox is present in the bike which is helpful for handling extreme road conditions and terrain.

Bajaj Pulsar 220:

This is the bike which achieves the maximum speed and it is believed to be the fastest on Indian roads. The 220cc has a twin projector lamp which helps in better lighting up the road and surrounding area ensuring clear visibility even in extreme conditions.
