Tata and Fiat join hands to sell Nano

Tata Motors Ltd, India’s largest vehicles maker will be selling the Nano, the world’s cheapest car in Latin America in partnership with Italian auto maker Fiat.
Ratan Tata, Tata Group’s Chairman said that both Tata Motors and Fiat would jointly sell the low-cost Nano in Latin America. The two companies are also talking about many things, including plans for Iveco (Fiat’s commercial truck company), Ferrari and Maserati and various other collaboration opportunities to enhance their existing projects such as the partnership to produce engines in India.
The Tata Motors-Fiat alliance will help Fiat to make an entry into the Indian truck market which is the world’s fourth largest. Tata and Fiat already have a 50:50 joint venture in India for a new car and engine plant. The companies have together invested around Rs 4,000 crore at Ranjangaon in Maharashtra. The Fiat engines made here are used for Tata Indica Vista, and may be used on Fiat’s Linea and Grande Punto.
