Details are limited about the hybrid cars. Both hybrids are expected to be powered by a small electric motor that develops 15 kW (20 hp) and 210 Nm (155 lb-ft) of torque. The motor will be coupled to the transmission housing, which will effectively replace drag inducing auxiliary components such as the alternator and starter.
Power is expected to come from a small lithium-ion battery. The battery will be recharged via a Brake Energy Regeneration system. This system will provide more than enough energy to run the various electrical systems when the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine is deactivated.
The company claims the 7-Series hybrid will achieve a 15% improvement in fuel economy, while the X6 hybrid will offer up to a 20% improvement.

In the month of September, the BMW 1-series will be facing some new competition. Sources have said that presently Lexus is developing a 1-series challenger and it will be entering the stage as a concept car at the Frankfurt motor show during this year.

A BMW 1-series car
Definitely BMW doesn’t consider the short-handing and they do appear to be fairing pretty good in premium C-segment. Further the Lexus model will be based on the U.S. market-only HS250h. And it is a hybrid with a 2.4 liter gasoline/petrol engine. Adding, the car provides a total of 187 hp with the addition of the electric motor output. Moreover, the European model may have the name CS or BS. Also it will be a front-wheel drive and developed absolutely as a hybrid but will not be built on the similar platform as that of HS250h.And the European C-segment is too lucrative not to be in.
The concept that will enter at the Frankfurt will be a close match to the real version. Adding, at Geneva in the year 2010 it will see its production model. And in the fall of the year 2010 the car will move for the sales.
