XUV 500,the all-new SUV and the first monocoque vehicle of Mahindra is to be launched by this year end.Mahindra plans to position the XUV 500 in between the Scorpio and the premium SUV range.The XUV 500 is powered by a transversely located 2.2-litre mHawk engine which churns out a power in the range of 120bhp to 140bhp.The estimated torque produced by the mHawk engine is around 32.6kgm.It will be available in both 4*2 and 4*4 variants.Mahindra powers the new XUV 500 with both attractive and comfort features which include the high mounted,swept back headlamps,the curved Mahindra grille,the rising beltline and tapered roof which offers an air of compactness.It also features traction control,ESP and hill descent control.It is expected at a price of Rs.13 lakhs for the base 2WD version.
