The current Vitara is powered a 2.0L engine which generates 120 bhp at 5500 rpm of peak power and a peak torque of 170 Nm at 3500 rpm. But it lacks the charm of CR-V or captiva. Maruti Suzuki sold only 270 vehicles in FY09 and it plans to create interest among buyers by launching a powerful version of Grand Vitara. The new vitara will come with a 2.4L petrol generating 169PS of peak power to offer spirited performance. Along with the engine, the new grand vitara would come with a cosmetic changes in styling and upgraded interiors.
