TVS-BMW to launch first 300cc bike by 2015

TVS has confirmed the launch of its first 300cc, single street bike which has been developing with the BMW. The first product from TVS-BMW joint venture will be ready by the second half of 2015. The TVS-BMW partnership will manufacture the bikes under 500cc segment in the country. The bikes from TVS-BMW alliance will be developed at TVS Hosur plant.

The naked street fighter bike is powered by 300cc, 4 stroke, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine. The naked street fighter will compete with the bikes like upcoming Mahindra Mojo 300, Honda CBR300R and Kawasaki Ninja 300. The company has invested Rs. 150 crores for this joint venture. The bikes will be sold by both TVS and BMW independently through their respective channels.

The bikes will be sold under TVS badge in India as well as the other markets of Indian manufacturer, TVS. TVS Motors, Venu Srinivasan, chairman said, “I know we have been silent on TVS and BMW since we had the tie-up. It is going to be ready by the second half of the next calendar year. All the work is under progress”.
