Yamaha G5 Test Drive & Review
Yamaha had not been under the lime light in the recent past as it could not cope up with the economic customers of Indian two wheeler buyers. The Rx-135 was a decent success, but since two stroke eras where dying out, people did not want to stick to the old technology, except a few racers. Yamaha made a quick market study and re-designed libero launching as a new 106 cc bike Libero G5 which is elegant and splendid.
G5 can't be graded as a commuter bike, because, when you gaze at it, the cool graphics and the sleek design, makes an outstanding appeal for an entry level 4 stroke bike. The variety of color options, cooler graphics, Yamaha logo, grab rail and slim inscribed chasis, all as a whole gives a new igniting feel to Libero G5.
The headlamp design could not be put under the 'wow' aspect of the bike, as the shape is a little bit awkward, doesn't conciliate with the bike's front catch. Although, the tail lamp architecture is retained from the old Libero, the well-groomed sides, hides it and enhances to the sporty structure of this Yamaha product.
G5 is bundled with a SOHC( Single Over Head Camshaft ) air-cooled engine. Rev it up to 7500 rpm to get a peak power of 7.6PS(5.59 kw) and maximum torsion of 7.85 Nm @ 6000 rpm. The torque and power figures show that Yamaha minded on fuel efficiency rather than tweaking the bike's performance. The gear pattern is typical Yamaha's privileged 1 down remaining up.
Ride and Handling:
Pushing the stand and kick starting the engine, will give you an enticing engine beat. When you start driving the bike, every up-shifting of gears shall give you the necessary pull (maintaining at least 3-4 rpm during gear shift) that can be capitalized to overtake slow riders, cyclists and the pedestrians. Thanks to the correctly spaced out gear ratios, and the responsive gear box inspite of a moderate clutch feel. Right smart level of torque, even in lower rpm bands permits you to fluctuate at about 20 kmph amongst others in a traffic jam. Engine gruffs at speeds above 70 kmph, and with a pillion it grunts beyond 55 kmph. Go beyond 85, and hear the engine's squeal begging you to calm down.
G5 owns a brawny braking. Invigorating corners and conservative mileage are the blended characters you can expect from Libero G5. Yes, the MRF tires deployed in G5 sets in freedom in your mind to go fast as you can engraft yourself anywhere needed on the road. Handlebar's contour is impeccable for it allures trust during a speedy cornering.Thank always the Yamaha's engineers, for they can imbibe even minute handling details and cater comfort to the riders. I especially like the seat concept between the thighs, providing adequate grip as well as solace in traffic.
Cheers to Yamaha, for constricting its performance bike maker image to a mass satisfier. Libero G5, in spite of its caveats, has all the qualifications of a regular city riding bike. Clubbed with a gaudy instauration, Yamaha Libero G5, will definitely set a launching pad for the company and also help regular commuters palpate the merriment of riding the Yamaha product.

Yamaha G5 Owner Review
If there is one bike which receives the comment of “ the worst ever bike in the automobile industry” it is this G5. How such bikes are designed and launched in this competitive world. It is not a movie to just see and forget. It is all about buyers money. Please withdraw this brand at the earliest.
