About Royal Enfield Cafe Racer 500

The Royal Enfield Cafe Racer 500 was showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo held at Delhi on the month of January. The iconic Cafe Racer is likely to be launched in India in the first quarter of next year. The bike is powered by a 499cc, 4 stroke single cylinder engine that churns out 22 BHP of power at 5400 RPM and is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. With a tubular steel chassis underneath, the bike measures 2089mm long, 692mm wide and 1054mm high and has a kerb weight of 187 kgs. The top speed of the bike is 130kmph. The Cafe Racer features an elongated, Manx style tank held in place with a leather buckle, rear-set footpegs and controls, clip-on bars, a chopped mudguard and a 'bum-stop' seat. The tool boxes at the side have been replaced by nifty racing number plates. The bike is expected to be launched at a price of Rs.1.6 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
